JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Two brothers received the shock of their lives at a tuck shop in Liefde en Vrede when they were attacked by three suspects during a hijacking on October 13.
One of the brothers was confronted by the men, who were driving a white VW Golf GTI, as he was parked outside the shop while waiting for his brother.
Mondeor SAPS communications officer, Constable Elizabeth Mnguni, explained: “Mondeor SAPS is investigating a case of hijacking which occurred on October 13, at about 20:40, in Katlagter Street, Liefde en Vrede. It is alleged the victim was dragged out of his white Mercedes Benz C180 and into the suspects’ vehicle; a white VW GTI. There were three suspects. His brother heard the altercation and went out to check what was happening. The brother was shot once in the upper body. He was taken to hospital by an ambulance and he is in a stable condition. The suspects drove away with the victim and left him at Southgate Shopping Centre. The victim’s motor vehicle was recovered in Doornfontein on the same day.”
Mnguni added that an eye witness saw the entire incident and assisted police with important details although the suspects are still at large.
