MEC urges responsible water use
Water issues continue to take centre stage as the need to preserve resources increases
A MASS media campaign on water preservation was launched by Gauteng Department of Human Settlement and Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Jacob Mamabolo, on November 19.
The event was held at Rand Water Zwartkopjes Pump Station on Kromvlei Avenue in Mondeor, and was attended by residents, members of the media and officials of Rand Water.
The aim was to strengthen dialogue on water preservation in Gauteng and encourage responsible water use in the province as a threat of drought still faces the country.
According to Mamabolo, the launch was the first of many engagements planned to form part of an aggressive drive to work with the community to reach all sectors of water users in the Gauteng province.
The launch followed a special meeting of the Gauteng City Region Water and Sanitation Forum, on Monday, where a six-pillar mass communication campaign was adopted to amplify the message on saving water in the face of the current scarcity of this precious resources.
