Put your cooking skills to the test
This annual Cook-a-thon will be held at 83 Heidelberg Road in City Deep.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH: Meals on Wheels readies itself for their third annual Cook-a-thon due to take place at the Meals on Wheels warehouse in City Deep, between Wednesday, November 25, and Thursday, November 26.
Meals on Wheels invites companies to participate and beat last year’s total of 10 602 hot meals cooked and delivered to different communities.
“This year we aim to cook 12 000 hot meals but can only achieve this with your help. Those of you that have participated in the Cook-a-thon will know that it’s hard work but will also know that it’s the most rewarding experience to end the year off with,” explains Michelle Wohlberg, spokesperson for Meals on Wheels.
“We are accommodating eight companies per day. The volunteers will be welcomed by the Meals on Wheels team and then have Drum Tribe captivate them with a thrilling and exciting gumboot dancing experience. Loads of entertainment and lunch will be served to the participating teams.”
The groups will be allocated a work station and their culinary skills will be put to the test. Each team comprises of seven or eight team members who will be required to chop, peel, slice and dice the food as well as deliver the meals to those less fortunate. The teams will be judged on hygiene, cleanliness as well as the appearance and taste of the food.
Companies should take note that registration starts at 08:30. For more information e-mail Wohlberg on michelle@mealsonwheels.co.za or phone 0860 000 700 or 082 410 357.
