THE Parish of St John Bosco in Robertsham, together with the Salesian’s sisters, priests and brothers organised a non-residential holiday camp last month at 66 Nelson Road in Booysens.

During the camp over 80 young people and children gathered from morning until mid-afternoon at the premises for food, fun, swimming, novelty games, learning activities and everything else that normally forms part of a camp’s recipe.

Generous benefactors contributed to all the costs so that the children had it all for ‘mahala’, including breakfast and lunch. Kind leaders (adults and teenagers) also gave their time to make sure the children had a very special experience in a safe and friendly environment: a place to learn, play, belong and pray. In the heat of summer, the swimming pool was the most popular spot, and quite a few youngsters managed to learn to swim over the five days!

The mission of the Salesian Family founded by St John Bosco, is to provide disadvantaged young people with the opportunity of education and to become honest citizens and good Christians.
