MEMBERS of Women of Worth (WOW) ladies group enjoyed a talk by Hilda Theck (one of the members), who recently visited her family in Dubai, and spoke and showed photographs of her exciting trip.
Hilda, who has travelled to Dubai before, spoke about the ultramodern architecture and the luxury shopping malls. “Dominating the skyline, Burj Khalifa, is a magnificent building. Everywhere you drive you see new buildings going up and many cranes. Rapid changes have taken place in Dubai and each time I visit I see new things. It’s a very exciting city with lots to see and do. On the beach, The Palm offers a beautiful waterfront resort. It’s breathtakingly beautiful and for absolute luxury, you can stay at the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. It is a sail-shaped silhouette and has been voted the world’s most luxurious hotel,” she said.
Hilda also went for a drive in a 4×4 vehicle in the sand dunes. “It was a fantastic experience and one not to be missed.”
She said her trip wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to The Gold Souk in Dubai. “I’ve never seen so much gold jewellery under one roof. Gold is sold by weight and it’s 18ct, 22ct and 24ct, so very yellow in colour. The price varies according to the world market prices.”
Will she return to Dubai? “Definitely. Of course, with my daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters living there, it’s on the top of my wish list.”
