KNR development and master plan

It was the beginning of a crucial process that will determine the future use and conservation of the KNR. Further meetings and consultation will be held

JOHANNESBURG City Parks and Zoo have appointed consultants to explore various development proposals for the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve.

An initial public meeting was held on April 6, as part of the City’s legal obligation to inform and involve the community in key decision-making processes. This meeting was not properly advertised and only reached a small section of the local community. It was the beginning of a crucial process that will determine the future use and conservation of the KNR. Further meetings and consultation will be held.

“It is important that all stakeholders, community members, interested and affected parties, reserve users and local conservationists be part of this process and that they are informed and given adequate opportunity to have their voices heard. With this in mind, we would urge you to register as an interested and affected party with the appointed consultants to ensure that you get all pertinent information and that you are timeously notified of public meetings, said Mahadi Mabea, environmental officer, IKAMVA Consulting.
