Resident cleans up

“Previously when work has been done to the outside area and the pavement has been dug up, I’ve had to pay out of my own pocket to have the paving replaced again. I’ve also paid for the gardens to be done and bought all the plants and shrubs for the pavement."

LETITIA Visser is furious that, once again, she has been left with a mess on the pavement outside her petrol station, to clean up herself.

The owner of Sasol Petrol Station, on the corner of Columbine Avenue and Swartgoud Street, Suideroord, says: “I’m not sure what cables are being laid or what other work is being done on the pavement outside my petrol station, but I’m angry about the mess just being left.

“Previously, when work has been done to the outside area and the pavement has been dug up, I’ve had to pay out of my own pocket to have the paving replaced. I’ve also paid for the gardens to be done and bought all the plants and shrubs for the pavement.

“Apart from the unsightly mess, many pedestrians use this pavement and it’s dangerous for them to walk here, especially now with the early dark evenings. This is enough now,” said Letitia.

The CHRONICLE is trying to ascertain who is responsible for the mess, which has been left on and leading to the pavement.
