Our response to the letter by the DA’s Manny de Freitas (New councillors at your service, October 11).
He is the MP of many talents but his most popular talent is telling lies to the voters of ward 124 by claiming that the DA has a ward councillor. He has no shame in claiming that Tyrell Meyers, who resides in Oakdene, will take the interest of voters in ward 124 into account. This is a pipe dream.
The imperialist agenda of divide and rule was achieved in Joburg for the DA to be in power. It is even further from the truth that they have won the recent local government elections. The DA is in power through the unholy arrangements with smaller parties in particular the EFF in Joburg.
Meyers is a PR councillor for the DA not the ward 124 councillor. The voters of ward 124 voted for an ANC ward councillor to govern the ward for the next five years. The agenda of the ANC for transformation will continue as planned and no amount of telling lies will deter us from creating a country where its entire people shall live in harmony irrespective of the colour of their skin, sex, creed or religion but South Africans united in diversity.
