New home for Disney

AACL have since learnt that Disney has not let her new owner out of her sight.

READERS may remember the story about a sad little female dog that was rescued by the AACL inspectors in October, from the grounds of a primary school in the South of Johannesburg.

Found hurt and traumatised and lying under a prefabricated building, Disney, so named by AACL Kennel staff, was admitted to the veterinary hospital and treated for head trauma. After recovery, she was transferred to the kennels department. Although she remained nervous during her time in the kennels, she was slowly learning to trust again.

A week ago, AACL had a visit from Abraham Sheik of Melville, who had first adopted from AACL in 2006. Tiger, his German shepherd, had recently died as a result of liver disease and he was hopeful that AACL would be able to help him fill the void.

When learning of the history of Disney, he fell in love with this plucky little lassie and on Friday, December 9, a beaming Sheik arrived to take her home. AACL have since learnt that Disney has not let her new owner out of her sight.

If you are interested in adopting a companion animal from the AACL Johannesburg, the holiday season might be the time to leisurely stroll around the impressive facility and view the many beautiful animals which are awaiting adoption.

AACL operating hours over the holiday season will be as follows:

They will be closing early on Thursday, December 15 at 11:00.

They will be closed on Friday, December 16; Sunday, December 25; Monday, December 26; Tuesday, December 27; Sunday, January 1 and Monday, January 2.

They will return to normal operating hours from January 3 next year.
