Glenvista Primary School gets water

AFTER a year of having no electricity and water for Glenvista Primary School, finally on Tuesday, January 24 water was literally, on tap!
“This is excellent news and it’s going to make a huge difference to our school,” said principal Mr Arnold Oliphant, as he spoke to a team from Johannesburg Water – who were in the process of connecting the water to the school.
Still without phone lines and electricity, the school is lacking in these essential commodities and this remains a challenge, but otherwise Mr Oliphant said he’s pleased with how the school has progressed. “We still need a school hall and a playing field, but from the academic side all is going well. We have a total of 350 children in our school from grade one to five, with three grade one classes of 40 children in each.
“The school gardens are coming on a treat and the White Karee tree which was planted last May, courtesy of Thaba Eco Hotel, is growing well. The tree was planted as a sign of hope for the future and should eventually grow to about eight metres – and give beautiful shade to our car park area,” added Mr Oliphant.
