Talented athlete, mom and wife wants to help even more

Lize-Mari further raised money to distribute Bibles in Africa by cycling with the Mosaic church's Arola team from Johannesburg to Bloemfontein.

A MOTHER of three, Lize-Mari Kreusch (43) helps raise funds for various charities. She wants to wear the Mrs South Africa 2017 crown, so that she can do even more for charity.

Lize-Mari is an excellent athlete and uses her talents to help the less fortunate.

She was the number one elite female cyclist in South Africa in 2001 and recently came second in her age group at the Gauteng Triathlon Championships. In January she completed her first 70.3 Ironman.

CYCLING FOR CHARITY: Lize-Mari Kreusch is part of the Apocalypse Cows, the cyclists who complete the 947 Cycle Challenge twice to raise money for children with cancer.

Lize-Mari became actively involved in fundraising after visiting a shelter for abused children in Vereeniging in 2011.

She cycled 600km from Johannesburg to Durban for the cause. The money raised was used to buy school uniforms, food and blankets for the children and to revamp the home by fixing the toilets and installing a solar geyser.

In 2015 and 2016 Lize-Mari and her sister, Adele, took part in the 947 Cycle Challenge as part of the Apocalypse Cows, a super-fit group who complete the race twice – 180km in one go – to raise funds for CHOC.

These two talented and energetic women also hosted tea parties for fund-raising and talks on cancer to create awareness.

Lize-Mari further raised money to distribute Bibles in Africa by cycling from Johannesburg to Bloemfontein with the Mosaic church’s Arola team.

PROUD MOMENT: Lize-Mari Kreusch (43) completes her first Ironman.

Lize-Marie is a dedicated mom of two boys in primary school and a daughter in crèche. She also works full time.

Lize-Mari completed a masters’ degree in computer science at the University of Johannesburg and specialises in project management at FNB.

She often spends her Saturdays next to the cricket and hockey fields to support her boys. “I want my children to experience many different things so that they can later make their own choices in life,” she said.
