Moffatview SAPS successes

Fourteen suspects were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

OVER the week of April 11-17, Moffatview SAPS arrested 31 suspects for various crimes, including: armed robbery – three, assault common – four, assault GBH – eight, contempt of court – one, common robbery – one, driving under the influence of alcohol – one, fraud – two, malicious damage to property – two, shoplifting – five, theft – one, possession of stolen motor vehicle – two, possession of stolen property – one.

Fourteen suspects were arrested during a roadblock

ON April 21 Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) members held a roadblock at Turf Road and 6th Street, La Rochelle, from 4pm to midnight. Fourteen suspects were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Sergeant Shonisani Tshikovhi was in charge of the roadblock.

Social crime prevention talk

ON April 25 Cst Desiree Nose, social crime prevention co-ordinator, held a talk at WH Coetzee Primary School, The Hill. She addressed Grade Six and Seven learners on the topic of peer pressure and substance abuse. Learners were taught not to be influenced by friends. She encouraged them to learn to make the right choices and not to use peer pressure as an excuse to do wrong things, such as substance abuse.
