Help children reach for a dream by wearing your slippers!
Slipper Day is that special time of year when ordinary South Africans, celebrities and Wimpy join forces to support the incredible work done by Reach for a Dream.
WIMPY outlets are now gearing up for this year’s Slipper Day by selling R10 wristbands, which goes towards helping the children in the Reach for a Dream Foundation.
Following the overwhelming success of last year’s initiative, Wimpy outlets are gearing up for this year’s event with the sale of Slipper Day wristbands. R10 buys a Reach for a Dream wristband which can be redeemed for a Famous Wimpy Coffee on May 12 at any of the 490 or more Wimpy restaurants nationwide, and the right to rock your slippers all day long in public.

Established in 1988, Reach for a Dream is one of South Africa’s most loved charities. The organisation makes dreams come true for children suffering from serious and often terminal illnesses. Reach for a Dream has a special place in South African hearts because it gives children the gift of fun and adventure and the joyful parts of life they are often denied due to their illness.
Through Reach for a Dream, hundreds of South African children have been able to enjoy the simple things many of us take for granted, like birthday parties. They are also often given the chance to explore the extraordinary by going sky diving for instance, or meeting their life-long heroes.
“We are incredibly proud to be a part of this amazing initiative and it is something that is very close to Wimpy’s heart. Having the opportunity to help Reach for a Dream to make children’s wishes come true is incredibly moving. Slipper Day has become a day for South Africans to come together to show their support for this worthy cause,” said Ayanda Peppeta, Wimpy Brand Manager.
Notably, this year Slipper Day has shifted style gears with a colourful wristband which was designed by Gert-Johan Coetzee, replacing the traditional Slipper Day sticker.

“The wristbands are fun to wear and aim to inspire those wearing them. The innovation has added a lot of reach to the drive,” said Peppeta.
Reach for a Dream needs your support and Slipper Day wristbands are already on sale at your nearest Wimpy. For just R10 you can make a difference in a child’s life, so pop into any Wimpy restaurant nationwide on Slipper Day, wear your slippers and wristband and claim your free Famous Wimpy Coffee.
