THE trauma still haunts a family after their sister-in-law was stabbed 15 times by a tenant.
Martina Kigiongo (24) was killed on March 24. The suspect is a 52-year-old Ghanaian man by the name of William Biney (also known as Willy), who is in police custody awaiting prosecution.

The victim’s brother-in-law – Cherry Amij Tshibamba (32) – said the family was still in need of therapy after the ordeal.
He told the COURIER that Biney was still in custody after appearing in court several weeks ago.
“We want justice, although that can never bring her back. Kigiongo was struck with a knife in the back while drinking tea with a friend. She was carrying a friend’s child at the time. The child was dropped as Kigiongo fell to the ground trying to flee from the attack.”
According to police, Kigiongo was also struck in the face. A guard close by heard the screaming and came to their aid. He stopped the attack.
Biney was arrested shortly thereafter by the JMPD, who handed him over to police. Kigiogo died shortly thereafter in hospital.

Tshibamba said the family was still traumatised months after the tragedy and were going through a tough time taking care of Kigiongo’s four children.
“It is challenging but I have no choice but to take care of them,” he said.
Court officials were still awaiting post mortem results and DNA from Kidiogo’s body.
Biney claims Kigiongo had stolen R15 000 from his property.

The Courier earlier reported that Biney had complained of R15 000 that was missing from his room.
He suspected his landlord may have taken the money. He had reported it to Moffat View SAPS Police who confirmed that only R10 000 was missing.
Biney first appeared in court on March 27, and again on April 3.

Moffat View police spokesperson Constable Mikateko Bila confirmed Biney was in police custody and would appear again in court on June 28. She said investigations were ongoing.
The two brothers have asked for any assistance from the public as the children are suffering.
