“For far too long we have had the young people in our society ruining their future by consuming drugs and some of them become victims of human trafficking. Our children have the right to grow up in a society that is free and safe!”

The march was supported by various city organisations.

Among them were Health Promotion, Ward Governance, the Southern Business Community Forum, Guardian Angels Security, the REC Wellness Centre, My Lily’s Home of Hope shelter for abused women, The boys and girls Brigade and various faith-based organisations as well as local schools.

DRUG ACTION: Councillors Rashieda Landis and Faeeza Chame speak to the many who want drugs out of their communities.

“The Kenilworth Spar sponsored water for the halfway and finishing points, while Meat World and Pick n Pay at Comaro Crossing, and Meals on Wheels sponsored food. Zoom Juice sponsored the cold drink, Cash Crusaders Kenilworth sponsored the sound system, ER24 sponsored the ambulances and the weekend market sponsored the double decker bus for the event. A big thank you also goes to the members of the Booysens CPF and the officials of Pest control who were marshals on the day,” he said.

Crichton said he wanted to thank all those who helped make the enormous march possible.
