Mother of two brutally murdered

A murder case has been registered with Moffat View SAPS and investigations are underway.

IMAGINE the horror a one-year-eleven-month toddler had to go through while being ‘trapped’ with the body of her murdered mother the whole day before they were found by her father.

The murder happened on March 2 at the new Fever Tree Complex in South Hills, where a 44-year-old woman was found stabbed to death.

The husband of the deceased related the story to COURIER. He said in November last year, Clagro M3, the developer, asked the residents to note anything that they are not satisfied with.

“On February 26, people sent by Calgro M3 came to check the house and my wife was at home. She told them that the doors and bathroom pipes needed to be fixed. There was an altercation as they said they will only fix the pipes, not the doors.

“I contacted Calgro M3 and explained that the doors needed to be fixed because when it’s raining the water comes in. They promised to follow up our query, however, they didn’t. When I contacted them again I told them that my wife will be home on March 2 and they said they will come.

“Once I was home from work on that Friday, I parked my car, went to check the pipes outside the bathroom while my seven-year-old daughter went to the house. The pipes were fixed. I then went inside the house. I found my youngest daughter at the door. We asked her where her mother is and she pointed to the direction of the bedroom.

“While going there, I first saw my wife’s feet and the unthinkable unfolded. There she was, cold, dead. The blood was dry and it showed that my youngest daughter was with her for a long time. I took my children and raced to the police,” explained the husband.

Nothing was stolen from the house.

The principal of the school, which the seven-year-old attends, said that this is a very unfortunate incident and the learner is affected by this.

“The family wants some sort of hope, or at least the arrest of the suspect(s). They are contemplating on selling the newly acquired house. This is sad,” she said.

Calgro M3’s response

The CEO of Calgro M3, Wikus Lategan said this was a domestic incident that took place in one of the houses in the development that had already been sold and transferred to the client.

“We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere condolences to the victim’s family and friends. Things like this always sadden us as we strive to build sustainable communities where people can enjoy a better lifestyle. However, I suppose these types of things are unavoidable in any community, but no-one deserves to die like this.

“We as a company and our contracted security company have and will continue to give our full support to the investigation. As the matter is now subject to an ongoing investigation by the SAPS, it is therefore confidential. The SAPS has requested that all media inquiries are directed to them,” explained Wikus.

Moffat View SAPS communication officer, Captain Jeff Phora said the police are in pursuit of the murder suspect(s) and are appealing to the community to come forward with any information that might assist during the investigation of this incident.
