FOREST Hill Primary learners had an opportunity to meet the paramedics from Netcare Mulbarton on March 27 and were taught how to prevent head injuries, and shown CPR demonstrations and hand hygiene.
Priscilla Yerriah, unit manager Netcare Mulbarton emergency department, said this is in line with World Head Injury Awareness Day, which was on March 20.

“We are teaching the children the importance of wearing helmets when riding bicycles or skateboards. There will be also CPR demonstrations and the importance of washing their hands,” she said.
The purpose of this day is to remind the people how they could reduce accidents and brain injuries.

Netcare Mulbarton also advocates the correct usage of safety devices such as helmets and seat belts, which can prevent damage to the head when one is involved in an accident.
