Newborn baby found abandoned on Columbine Avenue, Mondeor

The baby was treated by paramedics and gradually warmed, before she was transported to a private hospital for further attention.

A NEWBORN baby girl was found on Tuesday morning, April 17, abandoned in a veld along Columbine Avenue, Mondeor.

ER24 paramedics were called to the scene after patrolling members of the SAPS found the baby. Upon arrival at 11.45am, paramedics found the newborn with the local authorities.

Paramedics assessed the girl and found that she had escaped injury but was suffering from hypothermia and dehydration.

The baby was treated by paramedics and gradually warmed, before she was transported to a private hospital for further attention.

Local authorities were on the scene and will be conducting an investigation into the matter.
