Bona Comprehensive School girls learn the tricks of the trade
Among many other things, the girls were helped with opening email accounts.
PHAKI Personnel recently hosted children from Bona Comprehensive School at their offices in Mondeor as a way to engage and promote a better future for the South African girl child.
They hosted the #bring a child to work drive to inspire learners through insights of their day-to-day operations.
Phaki Personnel managing director Rebeccah Hatlane said the initiative was of great importance in the upbringing of young learners.
“Following our relationship with Bona Comprehensive School, we invited them over to show them around and motivate them to be independent girls who appreciate education and the workspace after college,” she said.
Among many other things the girls were showed how to create an email address which will be handy for the Grade 12 learners during their applications.
“An email address is very important for any learner and we also had a session where we discussed with them some career management aspects and the girls managed to get a glimpse of our day-to-day office,” said Hatlane.
Learners were also shown how to get hold of different clients, set up a CV, as well as how the organisation manages to stay afloat as an employment agency.
A one-to-one interaction with the managing director toppled the day’s experiences as Hatlane motivated the learners to strive for greatness regardless of gender or any other social constraints.
“The day was very fruitful as the learners got important lessons from our engagement with them and we also managed to learn a thing or two as they were well engaged. This was a two-way form of communication where the girls learned from us and we also learned from them,” said Hatlane.
