THE Dog Club from Turffontein West, which was founded by mother and daughter team Julie and Janneque Bezuidenhout, 23 years ago, is qualified for the grooming of dogs, although Julie’s main function is to train animals on how to behave.
The club also runs an outreach programme in conjunction with the Animal Cruelty League in Johannesburg (AACL). This serves poor communities with basic health care and sterilisations. Although the club is called The Dog Club, it also caters for cats. The club consists of two schools, where they specialise in domestic obedience and animal skills.
There’s also a casting agency in the club’s ranks but only for dogs that are registered with the club.
The latest work on television was the Montego Classic commercial. The dogs were cast sitting on the forklift and also on the new Leon Schuster movie that will be premiered in November this year.
The club has been working with various agencies assisting them when they need animals for commercials or any other casting abilities. Most people bring their dogs and cats for sterilisation but the club is now seen as the second home away from home for animals. Every day, Julie and Janneque work hard to ensure that he animals get the best treatment ever.

“We love our jobs and we are motivated by our love and the passion we have for animals. We are both academically qualified to do what we do. The most special and unique thing that keeps us is the love the animals have towards us and the love we have for them,” Julie said.
For information on the club, you can contact Julie Bezuidenhout on 011 433 1442/082 411 4156.
