DA has braai for Talisman Foundation

Mental illnesses are just as important as any other physical illnesses.

THE Democratic Alliance (DA) recently hosted a braai for the residents of Talisman Foundation as a way to show their love and support of mental illness patients in the community.

The braai followed a previous event the DA held at the foundation on Human Rights Day where they promised to conduct follow up visits to the institution.

Present at the braai was DA shadow MEC for Health Jack Bloom and Ward 56 councillor Michael Crichton.

In their presentations to the Talisman residents and staff, both Bloom and Crichton hailed the institution for its good management of government grants availed to them.

They said it was pleasant to see how well the management of the Talisman Foundation positively utilises their government grants to maintain the facilities in a good condition and ensure patients are treated with dignity.

Crichton also hailed some patients for their resilience.

“It’s always a pleasure to be at this facility, some of the Talisman Foundations patients are extremely talented and I take my hat off to the management of this institution for treating their patients with such dignity,” he said.

“I thoroughly enjoyed being here today and look forward to coming here again in the future, as I’m a firm believer that mental illnesses are just as important as any physical illness,” he added.
