Taxi helps duo to eat, sleep and change clothes

Moses and Amanao use taxi as a changing room.

MOSES William (27) and Amanao Zafoal (19) from Booysens have been using an abandoned taxi as their changing room since 2016.

The duo doesn’t own luxury wardrobes or clothes so the taxi is their wardrobe and canteen as they eat their lunch there every day.

They live in a one-room flat with only one bed which they share. They don’t want to leave their clothes in the flat as it is safer in the taxi.

“We work with steel most of the time, so we need a place where we can change and the taxi is the perfect place for us. One of our friends told us about this abandoned taxi and since then we have made this taxi a home. We honestly don’t know the owner of the taxi but I believe that one day we will meet. I don’t think it’s a problem changing our clothes and eating here because even taxi drivers don’t have any problem with us,” explained Moses.

They sometimes bath inside the taxi with people walking by. The duo isn’t ashamed of the way they live. They believe that one day they will become successful people because everything has its own time.

“I always see them eating and taking a nap inside the taxi. I thought maybe the taxi belonged to them or maybe they were guarding it. But, at least they are not running any drug operation,” said a taxi driver.
