A MOTHER, (55) from Booysens squatter camp is fed-up with getting beatings from her son (30) every week.
The mother claims that her son comes into the house and demand food and money.
“If he is not given he then beats me with stones and water pipes, anything he can find,” she told the COURIER.
“We are a family of five and he beats his little sisters,” she added.
The family believes that he is under the influence of drugs. They also stated that he is also jobless and he survives by taking money from his mother forcefully. The mother claims that she has called the SAPS several times but when the police arrive he runs away.
“He doesn’t respect me. He wants to make me his ATM. I can’t even live a normal life like other people because I have to watch my back every day. On Sunday, August 26 he came into the house demanding R20 and I gave it to him. Later that day he came back again and demanded money. When I refused, he stoned me,” she said.
She told COURIER that she needs someone to help her son with whatever is influencing him to behave in this manner. “The kind of help that he needs is counselling or a rehab centre,” she added.
Lorraine van Emmerik from Booysens SAPS said: “I have checked. No case has been opened at the three stations around the informal settlement. Neither has anything been reported to Johannesburg Center and Moffat View Police.”
