McPherson Court needs washing lines

No washing lines for residents.

RESIDENTS of McPherson Court in South Hills are in desperate need of washing lines in the court.

Patrick Tselane, (35) told COURIER the court has only two washing lines which are used by residents. The shortage of washing lines in the court has caused unnecessary feuds among residents as some of the residents’ laundry fills the entire two lines leaving others with no space.

Other residents have opted to hang their laundry on the court’s balcony walls. Patrick said the court had lots of lines in the past but all have been destroyed.

“This may seem like a joke but it’s not. Not having washing-lines in the court is a problem because one has to wake up early to be first to hang clothes. I sometimes have to hang my clothes in my living room. This needs a permanent solution and we have tried calling the ward councillor to intervene,” he said.

Other residents say, “Washing lines are needed here because some residents are not seeing eye to eye just because of this washing line debacle.”

Residents expressed that the court is filthy and the lack of maintenance of the court makes them they feel they are being sidelined. Ward 57 councillor Faeeza Chame couldn’t be reached for comment as she on leave.
