SAPS advises individuals to ensure when they employ housekeepers, they should obtain a recent copy of the person’s identification document or work permit and most recent residential address along with contact details.
SAPS believes these records will assist when a crime has been committed or something happens.
Capt Lorraine van Emmerik, communications officer, said: “Please also warn your domestic helpers of people coming to your house posing as government officials and asking permission to enter your premises to obtain information.”
