Bambanani Community Care receives R50 000 from cyclists

At the official handover on January 19, Lee Anderson, representing the cyclists, said it was their dream to better last year’s offer.

BAMBANANI Community Care, in partnership with Deeds of Love Ministries, received R50 000 when cyclists and businesses came together to help at their 2018 Durban Annual Charity Circle Ride.

This was over double what they donated last year (R22 000). At the official handover on January 19, Lee Anderson, representing the cyclists, said it was their dream to better last year’s offer.

“We are proud of all the efforts put in by the cyclists and the business people in achieving this, we hope to continue. Again we acknowledged the kindness of the people out there, to help those in need,” he said.

Bambanani Community Care was started three years ago after seeing the poverty and the needs in the Johannesburg south. Last year it was actively involved at the Johannesburg Society for the Blind in Roseacre, Hong Ning Chinese Old Age Home in Belgravia, St Mary’s Children Home and Abraham Kriel Children’s Home in Paarlshoop.

“We have also been operating a mobile outdoor soup kitchen every Tuesday afternoon outside the Turffontein post office for the last two years. We feed the homeless and the destitute. This year we have adopted Karina Retirement Village in South Hills. Presently we are looking at adopting another children’s home and a drug rehabilitation centre. Besides adopting various homes, Bambanani also assists the individual in need,” said its director, Michael Ho.

They also encourage youth organising activities like camps, picnics, ice skating, hikes, etc during school holidays and hosting weekly youth meetings educating young people about relationships, finances, substance abuse, etc.

As a multi-cultural and small non-profit organisation with limited funds, they depend entirely on the generous giving of individuals, sports clubs, businesses, churches, etc. They will be most grateful if companies would draw alongside them during these hard times to impact the society making the world a better place for all. Bambanani can be contacted on 011 680 7294 during office hours or at their offices at 137 Nelson Road, West Turffontein.
