Community opposes bail for murder accused

Rape and murder case on hold.

A 30-YEAR-OLD man who is accused of raping and murdering Silindlie Kunene (18) from South Hills has yet again seen his case being postponed to March 27, after his third appearance at Booysens Magistrate’s Court.

The first appearance was on March 11 when the case was postponed to March 12, to validate the charges against the accused.

The second appearance also saw the case being postponed to March 19, because the State wanted to validate the accused’s address.

The case has been postponed to March 27 for a formal bail application.

The accused will be remanded in custody.

Outside the court, residents from South Hills, Bellavista and Turffontein stood holding placards stating the accused shouldn’t be granted bail.
