Large pothole a concern for Naturena residents

NATURENA resident Lebogang Morwane is up in arms about a large pothole in Crescent Street which has been like this since last year.

The 45-year-old said motorists are finding it difficult to drive in Crescent Street as the pothole is too large to avoid.

Morwane is concerned that one day cars will bump each other or one of the cars might bump into a wall trying to avoid it.

“This pothole doesn’t only affect me, but all the residents and motorists using Crescent. Children will see this as an area to play at and that might endanger their lives,” Morwane said.

She said she has been trying to reach out to the ward councillor, but all have yielded barren results.

“I have been engaging with the councillor since the beginning of this year. I tried calling him and sent him messages on our residents’ chat group, but he doesn’t reply to my messages.”

Morwane blames a previous project to install water pipes for the current situation.

This pothole is creating all sorts of problems for motorists.

“That project is the cause of this nightmare because they created the pothole, which stretched to this. With the councillor not willing to take my calls and messages, I don’t know what to do or who to contact regarding the matter,” concluded Morwane.

Another resident, Rodger April, said something needs to be done because the pothole is causing unnecessary attention.

“My parents have to use another street just to avoid this pothole. I believe it’s not only me that is complaining about this issue,” said April.

The COURIER tried contacting the Ward 119 councillor, but could not make contact.

LEBOGANG MORWANE: “This patch must be attended too as soon as possible. An accident might happen because of this patch.”
Roger April: “It breaks my heart that this matter is not attended too. I’m hoping the councillor will come to our aid.”
