Johannesburg Flying Squad arrests 12 suspects for different crimes

Among the 12 suspects arrested, two were arrested for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, one for a warrant of arrest (drugs), one for robbery common, one assault common, five for possession of drugs and two for possession of a robbed vehicle.

FROM October 25 to 28, Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested 12 suspects for different crimes in different areas in Johannesburg and recovered four stolen and hijacked vehicles.

Among the 12 suspects arrested, two were arrested for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, one for warrant of arrest (drugs), one for robbery common, one assault common, five for possession of drugs and two for possession of a robbed vehicle.

Four vehicles recovered are a white Mazda Drifter, white Toyota Hilux and a Silver VW Golf that were recovered stolen and a white Toyota Conquest that was recovered hijacked.

In other policing matters, on October 28, JHB Flying Squad and JMPD K9 members arrested five suspects for business robbery and possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Members were busy with their patrols when they received information of a business robbery in progress at the corner of Kerk and Ellof streets in Johannesburg CBD.

On arrival at the scene suspects were still inside the store (Mr Price) and staff members and customers were held up.

They managed to arrest five suspects and recovered two unlicensed firearms, a 9mm Norinco and 38 Rossi, with ammunition. They were all detained at Johannesburg Central SAPS.

Jhb Flying Squad communications officer Raymond Sambo said the investigations continue in all cases.

“Working together with the community led to these recoveries. SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution.

“It should also be noted that if anyone has any information regarding the vehicles, they should contact the relevant detectives quoting the relevant case number.”

All suspects, aged between 22 and 35, will be appearing soon in different magistrate’s courts facing charges of business robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, assault common, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of robbed vehicle, robbery common, warrant of arrest and possession of drugs.
