Sentenced for robbing a driver in Turffontein

Man sentenced to 15 years in prison.

A MAN was sentenced to 15 years in prison on November 13 for a robbery which took place on August 18, 2018, in Turffontein.

According to Booysens SAPS communications officer, Capt Lorraine van Emmerik, the victim was scheduled to pick up one client, but on arrival at the designated point there were two of them.

“They said to the victim they need to be transported to Johannesburg. While on their way they asked the victim to pull over.

“They pointed a gun at him and demanded money. After taking the money they ran away,’ said van Emmerik.

Sgt Shadrack Manganye was given the case to investigate. A suspect was arrested and instruction was given by the court to obtain outstanding information which resulted in the man getting sentenced.

Booysens SAPS management wishes to thank all relevant role players and Manganye for his dedication in the fight against crime.
