The Lucky Lekgwathi Foundation kept its promise of last year and donated over 50 pairs of school shoes to Ormonde Primary School on January 30.
Orlando Pirates legend Lucky Lekgwathi adopted the school and he often helps out where he can.
Last year his foundation donated soccer balls and hosted a soccer tournament.
“This is a great initiative. Last year, we were here to donate soccer balls and we promised them that we will come and surprise them.
“So this is the surprise we were talking about. Thank you to all the people who donated the shoes, to the foundation and also the school’s SGB chair, Clerence Skosana, who asked me to do this favour. He is also my gym partner,” explained Lekgwathi.

Thabo Mabeba from the foundation said: “We like to start the year on a positive note. All the best for 2020 to the learners. They must do their best in their studies, remember that extramural activities are also as important and respect their teachers.”
The school’s principal, Basani Makatu, welcomed the foundation and its donation to the school.
“Thanks to Lucky Lekgwathi Foundation for the donation. We would like to congratulate everybody who received school shoes today and we expect them to come to school wearing them,” she said.
