Eikenhof Women’s Institute (WI) meeting: Women have their say

The next WI meeting will take place on March 11 at 9.30am at St Andrew’s Church hall, Burger Street, Suideroord.

At the monthly Eikenhof Women’s Institute (WI) meeting, which was held on February 12, president of the WI, Joy Boswell, said, “As a member of The Federation of the Women’s Institute, you have a voice and we belong to a world body.”

The morning was enjoyed by the women who attended and Boswell spoke about what the WI stands for and what it means to be a member.

“With the AGM coming up in April, we have to think about what we would each like and take a vote as to whether we will remain in The Federation of the Women’s Institute, or leave and become a group of women who just meets regularly.

“Being in the WI is important to me and we have one seat at the United Nations, which is an intergovernmental organisation that aims to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, achieve international cooperation, and be a centre for harmonising the actions of nations.
