Community reaches out to Mondeor and Booysens SAPS

“I then decided to put out messages to the community for assistance to donate sanitisers for the police station.”

In a reply to a call for assistance, the community reached out and a large number of gloves and hand sanitisers were donated to Mondeor and Booysens police stations.

Councillor Sarah Wissler told the CHRONICLE when she went to collect permits for other councillors, she went through a road block and noticed that officers did not have gloves and hand sanitisers.

“I then decided to put out messages to the community for assistance to donate sanitisers for the police station.

“The community responded by giving gloves, 60 litres of hand sanitisers and 60 litres of anti-bacterial hand wash which we then handed out.”

She said these were handed out to the said police stations and JMPD.

“I wish to thank Quintin Jan who called in to help and donated 2 000 gloves which I dropped off at Mondeor and Booysens police stations.

“Thanks also goes to Trevor Borrjeiro for the donation of the sanitiser and anti-bacterial soap which was delivered to the same police stations.

“There is also a drive that is coming up for face mask,” said Wissler.

The CHRONCLE spoke to Jan who explained that it was a great pleasure to be able to assist the police in keeping them safe since they are at the forefront.

“Police are out in areas to assist most people during this crisis we are facing in the country. I believe we need to take it upon ourselves to give what we can for them to continue to protect the people.

“Covid-19 has caused a breakdown and police are risking their lives to keep people safe. We should also appreciate them and assist them where we can. It was a pleasure to give out gloves for SAPS,” said Jan.
