A newborn baby was found in the drain of Cynthia Court in Chrisville on July 14.

According to Ward 55 councillor Rashieda Landis, who lives in the area, on July 13 the drains in Cynthia Court were blocked. They subsequently called Joburg Water.

“On Tuesday, Joburg Water came out to check what the cause of the blockage was. The gruesome discovery was made when the Joburg Water personnel pulled out the rod, a newborn baby.

“It is sad, very sad that we have to discover such. I just want to thank Joburg Water, the person who assisted and his colleagues too.

Ladies, I beg to be careful and mindful. Let us respect life. If you need assistance, please let’s talk. I am your ward councillor and I will help where I can,” explained Landis.
