Johannesburg Flying Squad weekend success

Two vehicles recovered, one was a silver VW Polo hijacked from the owner and one a stolen white Toyota Rav 4.

Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested two suspects for different crimes in different areas in Johannesburg.

During the operations from July 17 to 20, they also recovered two AK47 rifles with ammunition and one Norinco 9mm firearm with numbers filed off and two hijacked and stolen vehicles.

Among the suspects, one was arrested for common assault and another one for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

From the two vehicles recovered, one was a silver VW Polo hijacked from the owner and one a stolen white Toyota Rav 4.

Johannesburg Flying Squad communication officer Raymond Sambo said investigation continues in all cases.

“Working together with the community led to these recoveries. SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution. “It should also be noted that anyone who’s got any information regarding the vehicles, may contact the relevant detective quoting the relevant case number.

“Both suspects aged between 25 and 33 appeared in different Magistrate’s Courts, facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions and common assault,” he said.
