Taxi crashes into bus in Eikenhof, leaving 15 injured

Fifteen people were left injured, one of them seriously, when a taxi crashed into the side of a bus on the R550 in Eikenhof on October 1.

ER24 paramedics, along with the City of Johannesburg EMS and other services, arrived on the scene at 7.10am to find the two vehicles in the middle of the road.

Several people were found walking around on the scene while a woman was found lying trapped inside the taxi.
ER24 communications officer Russel Meiring said rescue medics freed the woman from the vehicle using Jaws-of-life while medics tended to the patients.

“On assessment, medics found that the entrapped woman was in a serious condition while 14 other patients had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“The patients were treated for their injuries, and the seriously injured woman provided with pain-relief medication before they were transported to various provincial hospitals for further care.

“Fortunately, no one from the bus sustained any injuries. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” he said.
