Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested 10 suspects for different crimes in different areas in Johannesburg and recovered nine vehicles and two unlicensed firearms and ammunition from November 6 to 9.

Among the 10 suspects arrested, two suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms (9mm Lorcin and a CZ 83 with ammunitions), one for possession of a suspected robbed vehicle, one for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle, two for assault common, three for possession of the stolen property and one for possession of drugs.

Of the nine vehicles recovered, the following were recovered hijacked from their owners: a white Hyundai H100, grey VW Polo, white VW Polo, white Mazda 2, and a maroon Mazda sedan.

A white Toyota Hilux, blue Mercedes-Benz, and two white VW Polo were recovered stolen.

Johannesburg Flying Squad communications officer Raymond Sambo said the investigation continues in all cases.

“Working with the community led to these recoveries. SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution. It should also be noted that any information regarding the vehicles, people may contact the relevant detective quoting the relevant case number.

“Ten suspects appeared in different magistrate’s courts to face charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, assault common, possession of suspected robbed and stolen vehicles, possession of stolen property and possession of drugs,” he said.
