Moffat View SAPS Lt-Col Shunny Govender congratulated the joint effort in curbing crime in the area.

A joint operation by SAPS, Tracker Connect, JMPD K9 and Saturation Unit led to the arrest of man who was involved in a house break-in in Mayfair at about 4am on November 26.

He was also in possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition. He was arrested in Short Street, Rosetteville.

A Moffat View SAPS statement read: “Through investigations, all the leads brought the police to a house in Rosettenville. The police found the car outside and when they questioned the driver of the car, his story didn’t add up.

“The suspect said he was at his girlfriend’s in La Rochelle and the police went to La Rochelle to collaborate his story; however, there were loopholes in the story.

“Upon the police searching the car, money and jewellery were found. When the police cornered and questioned him he started to talk and told them he was involved in a robbery and he showed the police all the stolen items in his room.

“The police also found a firearm hidden in the engine compartment.”
