Newborn baby found dead in plastic bag in Turffontein

"Unfortunately, the baby was showing no signs of life and paramedics declared him dead at the scene." said ER24 communications officer Russel Meiring.

A newborn baby boy was found in a plastic bag next to a block of flats in Turffontein on Wednesday evening, December 2.

ER24 communications officer Russel Meiring said: When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene just before 18h30, they found the baby inside a plastic bag.

“It is understood that members of the public had come across the baby. Unfortunately, the baby was showing no signs of life and paramedics declared him dead at the scene.”

The scene was handed over to the SAPS for further investigations.
