On April 2020 the complainant who is attached to City Power attended to a complaint of cable theft in the Turffontein area.
When he arrived he found the community with a suspect who had been caught stealing copper cable.
The suspect was handed over to the complainant and he was brought to Booysens Police Station where the suspect was charged with tampering with infrastructure and attempted theft.
The docket was given to and investigated by WO Fanie van Staden.
The suspect was found guilty and sentenced to eight years of direct imprisonment.
