WO Willemse and his crew were driving in the Southdale area when they were approached by a security officer who informed them that the company that he guards had just been robbed.
He also said that the suspects were traveling in a white Iveco panel van.
The members saw the said van a few minutes earlier driving past them. They made a U-turn and gave chase. The security guard in the meantime, with assistance from other members on the scene, opened a business robbery case.
Willemse and his crew pulled the van over and found two men inside. They searched the vehicle and discovered 39 solar panels. The suspects were arrested and taken back to the business premises where the suspects and stolen goods were positively identified.
Capt Lorraine van Emmerik, the Booysens SAPS communication officer, said the business robbery and possession of stolen property case was handed to Sgt Keneth Nefuranyele.
“Nefuranyele collected all the required paperwork and presented the docket to court. On January 28, both suspects were found guilty and sentenced to 10 years’ direct imprisonment. They were also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
“The management thanks WO Willemse and his crew for making the arrest and Sgt Keneth Nefuranyele in obtaining a good conviction,” she said.
