New volunteer at JSPCA

JSPCA welcomes Darryn Potgieter as a full volunteer.

Darryn Potgieter from Germiston was welcomed as a full-time volunteer at the Johannesburg SPCA.

“I have always loved animals and it brings me immense joy knowing I can help, even if it is just taking them for a walk. Before lockdown, I spent six months in Thailand volunteering at Soi Dog and for the government helping to rescue animals from the dog meat trade. It was a valuable experience that I now want to contribute to at JSPCA,” said Darryn.

He worked in the information technology field but because of his love for animals, he decided to broaden his horizons and knowledge to get a better understanding of animals.

“I am now studying animal behaviour and want to make my work with animals a career. I am excited to volunteer at JSPCA. I have already adopted my first puppy from JSPCA.”

Lana Marx from JSPCA said: “JSPCA is thrilled to have Darryn on board to assist with daily duties and give attention to all our animals.”
