Johannesburg Flying Squad’s success

SAPS appreciates the help of the public in fighting crime.

Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested five suspects for different crimes in different areas in Johannesburg and recovered two vehicles and three firearms with ammunition from July 23 to 26.

Among the five suspects arrested, four were nabbed for possession of unlicensed firearms and one for the contravention of the Disaster Management Act and possession of liquor to the value of R5 000.

Three firearms were recovered: a 9mm Glock pistol, a Z88 pistol and a 9mm Vector. All firearms and ammunitions were booked at SAP 13.

The vehicles recovered were a silver Audi S4 and a white Toyota Hilux that were hijacked from the owners.

Johannesburg Flying Squad communications officer Raymond Sambo said an investigation continues in all cases.

“Working with the community led to these recoveries. SAPS appreciates the public for its contribution. People may contact the relevant detective quoting the relevant case number on any information regarding the vehicles.

“The five suspects appeared in different magistrate’s courts to face charges of possession of firearms and ammunition and contravention of the Disaster Management Act,” he said.
