Community members are warned to be cautious about car hijackings in and around Moffat View policing precinct.
According to Sgt Solly Matjila of Moffat View SAPS, criminals are now taking opportunities to hijack victims outside their residential places.
He said there have been numerous reports about people being robbed and hijacked while they are sitting inside their vehicles parked outside their yards.
“Couples and friends mostly fall victim to such crime because criminals attack them while they are chatting and having fun without being aware of their attackers approaching.
“Moffat View SAPS warns people to stop parking their cars on the pavement outside their yards while they interact and socialize especially at night,” said Matjila.
Community members are also warned not to park their cars on pavements and leave them unattended as they get stolen.
