WATCH: Sibonelo Mtshali Tournament a huge success

Pastor FC won the inaugural Sibonelo Mtshali Tournament.

The Sibonelo Mtshali Tournament was a huge success, which saw 16 teams renewing their rivalries to be crowned champions on October 30 and 31 in Lawley, South of Johannesburg.

The tournament was well attended as people from different suburbs came to show support. The tournament’s first match was a nail-biting encounter between Pastor FC and Protea Glen Stars from Lawley and Soweto respectively.

The two-day tournament ended up being taken by Pastor FC overcoming VBC from Vlakfontein.

Pastor FC received a brand-new soccer kit, which was sponsored by BP Anchor Filling Station and received an R5 000 winner’s prize sponsored by Inkatha Freedom Party.

One of the organisers, Sibonelo Mtshali, said such tournaments are needed in communities to promote grassroots football.

“This was the first Sibonelo Mtshali Tournament and every year we will continue with it. We have learned and we aim to improve where we need to. I’m glad the tournament was a success and thanks to every team that made it to the tournament. Thanks to our sponsor BP Anchor Filling Station and IFP,” said Sibonelo.
