Abused children to benefit from your help

Support Maria's Angels Foundation to help abused children.

Maria’s Angels Foundation (MAF) in Ridgeway has teamed up with Karin Muller, the Mrs West Rand title holder and ambassador for a NGO called Matla A Bana.

This NGO was founded by hostage victim Monique Strydom to support voices against child abuse. The main aim of this organisation is to minimise the secondary abuse children suffer when reporting the abuse committed against them and more. With their volunteers, the admin of MAF, chairperson Victor Freire and his deputy, Rosalinda dos Reis, are determined to help as much as possible.

Freire said Gabriella Sparaco, a matriculant and volunteer of MAF, proposed the initiative for this fund-raiser alongside her mother, Angela, also a volunteer to the foundation.

“We are selling a Maria’s Angels Foundation package that consists of a blue ribbon, information leaflet and magnet at R20 per packet. All proceeds will be donated to Matla A Bana,” he said.

Muller concurred, “MAF has in many occasions assisted whenever help is needed and been supportive of my journey since being a finalist in the Mrs Krugersdorp pageant. We aim to have as many comfort packs for the children as possible. These packs consist mainly of hygiene essentials like soap, toothpaste and brush, facecloths and teddy bears, to name but a few.

“Most times the children are removed from these abusive situations as a matter of urgency. Therefore, there isn’t time to still pack a bag of necessities. Ages vary between three to 14 years and although we work in the West Rand area, the organisation helps any abused child,” she explained.

The foundation is a NPO raising funds and collecting donations to improve lives and show special care to those less fortunate.

Through inspiration and unwavering conviction, this foundation goes the extra mile as much as possible. Close to the hearts of the angels in this foundation are various causes plus homes for the elderly, children’s homes, special needs homes, soup kitchens, community on the roads, feeding schemes and families needing assistance mainly with food and clothing.

In almost four years of existence, MAF has assisted communities in the South and beyond. Receiving monthly assistance are 12 old-age and children’s homes, 55 families, community on the road and in general wherever possible.

They endeavour to spread goodwill, compassion, faith and love to as many as they possibly can with the assistance of those who are able to provide their aid to such a noble cause and are grateful for the blessings they receive that enable them to assist.
