Four arrested on Kliprivier Road
Suspects arrested for possession of stolen firearm and drugs.
Four suspects were arrested on May 8 for being in possession of a stolen firearm and drugs.
“Brackendowns SAPS officers Sgt Mthethwa, Const Ramela and Const Scholtz saw a white Ford Figo motionless on Kliprivier Road and proceeded to investigate,” stated WO Gerhard Cornelius.
The occupants told the members that they are waiting for their friend who had gone to the petrol station, but the members felt that the occupants were uneasy and decided to search the vehicle.
While searching the vehicle the fourth man came back from the filling station.
Under one of the seats, the members discovered a black revolver with a magazine and live rounds of ammunition. On further investigation, one more magazine with live rounds and a bag containing 90 Mandrax tablets were found.
“They asked the four occupants who owned the firearm, but they were unable to provide an answer. The members then observed that it was a SAPS firearm and after looking up the serial number, they discovered that it had been reported stolen in Vosloorus.”
All four suspects were arrested and taken to Brackendowns SAPS.
“Our members did an outstanding job. Lt-Col van der Westhuizen, the acting station commander, complimented the members on their dedication and commitment to the fight against crime,” Cornelius said.
