MMC concerned about the issues on Main Street

Although it will take long to fix all these problems, this is a start.

Ward 56 Clr Michael Crichton was among the several stakeholders who embarked on a walkthrough in Rosettenville and Kenilworth.

He said the team witnessed a multitude of service delivery issues, as well as law and by-laws contraventions.
The issues range from litter in the streets to blocked kerb inlets, illegally zoned businesses, building contraventions, illegal parking and drinking in public.

MMC for Corporate and Shared Services Leah Knott also visited the area on July 29 where she expressed grave concern about the issues the area is facing.

She committed to looking at a multi-disciplined approach to address concerns but stressed that it may take some time for the city’s new multi-party government to overcome all the issues.

“It’s sad to see what has gradually happened over the years to this once thriving business hub. I am going to do everything within my powers to put pressure on the relevant authorities to address these concerns and restore the area to its former glory,” noted Crichton.
