Nova Pioneer colour fest a success
Over 750 community members and Novaneers attended the annual Colour Fest that the Nova Pioneer matriculants hosted.
Nova Pioneer matriculants recently held their first colour fest, which attracted over 750 community members and Novaneers.
Students from Nova Pioneer fully represented the school’s motto, ‘a school for leaders and innovators’, despite their inexperience as organisers.
According to the external relations associate manager at the college, Telisha Sharma, the event had dual objectives – to have fun and raise funds. The event’s success served as an example of having a common goal and working as a team to make a dream a reality.
“With so many options for the day’s events, it was the ideal outing for families, friends, and alumni. The matriculants planned and conducted the fundraising effectively, raising money for their matric dance.” Sharma said.
A wide range of goods from neighbourhood businesses was on sale, children had their own play area, students showed off their robotics skills and there were activities for people of all ages, such as face painting and a personalised picture booth.

The primary event, the colour run, described as ‘a rainbow at the end of the storm,’ was worth the effort of the class of 2022 after almost three years of no-contact events.
“The event could have been extended because from 09:00 to 13:00 seemed too short for all the fun. The class of 2022 set the bar high, we look forward to meeting 2023 matriculants,” Sharma raved.
The event was wrapped with a cake-cutting, to celebrate Nova Pioneer’s eight years of developing leaders for the African century. A sold-out art auction of student work was held where enthusiastic bidders took home the stunning artwork by Novaneers.
