The PinkDrive comes to Crown Gardens Clinic

The Pinkdrive formed part of the reopening of the clinic.

The Pinkdrive visited Crown Gardens Recreation Centre on August 12 where both women and men were checked for various types of cancers.

This also coincides with the opening of the Crown Gardens Clinic facility that recently underwent an upgrade.

Organiser of the Pinkdrive, Lynette Meyer said: “I was approached by Pinkdrive that they have received a donation for a full service which included the mammograms, pap smears and prostate checks on males. That was a gift given to me so I decided to give it to the Crown Gardens Clinic as they are neglected when it comes to these drives.”

Lifeline handed out condoms and pamphlets during the Crown Garden Pinkdrive to help with Aids awareness.

“We managed to get Vumatel to help with coffee and tea for everyone that took part in the day,” said Meyer.

Ward 54 Clr Stuart Marais said: “I’m glad to see everyone that came out and promoted their causes during the opening. I would like to thank Vumatel for their donations on the day as well as Lynette Meyer and her team that arranged with Pinkdrive to be here. I would like to ask our residents to support the local clinic.”

The ombudsman for the City of Johannesburg also had a stall during the Crown Garden Pinkdrive.

Twenty-five women came for mammograms while 60 males showed up to test for prostate cancer through a simple blood test.

The day was a success that helped with the launch of the clinic as well as to grow awareness around breast and prostate cancer.
